The Runnymede on Thames announced as new supporter

The Runnymede on Thames Hotel part of the Warner Hotel has joined forces with the Extra Duvet Charity to supply the charity with hundreds of duvets this winter.

The Runnymede is currently undergoing a refurbishment and the General Manager Sue Wolton has come up with a great way to repurpose the hotel’s bedding during the site refurbishment. Each room is being renovated as part of the redevelopment and Sue wants to ensure that as little as possible goes to landfill. So, she tasked New Openings Manager Richard Barrett with arranging for the hotel’s duvets to be donated to a local charity. Known as the Extra Duvet Charity, its founder Noel Goddard currently works with local food banks, churches, and the Salvation Army to get duvets to people in fuel poverty.

The Runnymede has donated 100 duvets so far but expects that number to be closer to 250 once the hotel has completed its refurbishment. Noel said, “The support from Sue and the team at The Runnymede has been a great boost. It also reinforces the important role that the hospitality industry can play in providing warmth to people in need this winter” Sue added, “I would like to thank Richard and Warner for supporting this initiative. Thank you.”
